QSL as a partner of the From Farm to Fork Conference

On 1st June 2016, a conference focusing on cooperation of the interested parties in food chain for the benefit of the consumers will be held under the patronage of the minister of agriculture of the Czech Republic in the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture. This year it will be thematically divided into three blocks. Many interesting topics concerning the quality of Czech food, inspections carried out in restaurants, relations between retailers and suppliers and many other topics will be discussed.

We became a holder of trademark

We value our services so we decided to apply for assignment of registered trademark ®. We have complied with all the requirements that are set by relevant legal regulation and after almost 10 months we obtained the trademark by recording into the trademark registry at the Industrial Property Office.

Sorghum products containing hazardous alkaloids

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) has found 9 defective batches of sorghum products that contained atropine and scopolamine, alkaloids hazardous to human health, which may not occur in food in any quantity. The following products made by Adveni Medical s.r.o. are concerned.

Products with the Czech flag must truly be Czech

Placement of the Czech flag on the product packages or at stores becomes reliable information for consumers that the food they buy is really Czech. And inspectors will not get into disputes with producers or retailers whether their labelling is misleading.  

CAFIA has found sorghum flour with tropane alkaloids

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) has found four unsafe batches of sorghum flour that contained atropine and scopolamine, alkaloids hazardous to human health, which may not occur in food. The following products were concerned:

The secret of aromas and their labelling

Conscious customers who watch food ingredients often rise up against aromas. Why? Based on their indications, we cannot say which particular substance is hidden behind them…

Additives are labelled with E-codes because each "E" indicates a chemical (E330 = citric acid, E250 = sodium nitrite). In aromas, individual chemicals are not concerned but mixtures of substances. Therefore ranking them in the list of additives is practically impossible.

Olive oils as frequently adulterated food

Extra virgin olive oil. The name itself evokes the top quality from the range of olive oils. Now there is suspicion that Italian producers offer oils of lower quality for sale; such oils were considered extra virgin based on the description on the packaging

Be careful with tricky health claims

The essential requirement for each food is that it is safe and properly labelled. Customers should get true information that leads them to correct choice. Due to distribution and advertising of food, especially food supplements that often claimed almost miraculous health effects, the Regulation (EC) No. 1924/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20th December 2006, on nutrition and health claims made on food, came into force on 1st July 2007.

Indication of allergens is turning against the producers

This week the State Veterinary Administration published the news that undeclared content of soya protein was found in a supply of pâtés by Hamé s.r.o.. The product is now being withdrawn from the market. This is not the first and certainly not the last case in the issue of indicating allergens…
